Currently Kevin is a freelance choreographer and master teacher. In June 2015 Kevin participated in the Choreographic Essentials Workshop directed by Helen Pickett. From 2009-2015, he was a professional dancer.
Most recently, he danced with Smuin Ballet in San Francisco, one of America’s top contemporary ballet companies. There he performed contemporary ballet works by Garrett Ammon, Amy Seiwert, and Michael Smuin. He also choreographed One to Two for Smuin’s Choreography Showcase.
From 2011-2014, Kevin danced with Minnesota Ballet, directed by Robert Gardner. He performed in several full-length ballets, including Dracula, Coppelia, The Firebird, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. For two seasons, he danced the lead in Allen Fields’ s The Manhattan Nutcracker. He also was featured in several contemporary ballets.
In 2012, at the Duluth Playhouse, Kevin played Don in A Chorus Line, a musical theater role that required dancing, singing, and acting.
Since 2009, in the summer, Kevin has worked with Jaime Robtison, Artistic Director of Summer Dance Company, as faculty/coach for her seven-week summer intensives. In 2014, he was named Contemporary Ballet Master. For the 2013 and 2014 Summer Dance Company performance, Kevin choreographed several works: pas de deux, solos, and group pieces.
From 2009-2011, Kevin danced with Sarasota Ballet, directed by Iian Webb. There he experienced a diverse repertoire, working with several choreographers, most notably Yuri Possokhov (The Firebird) and James Buckley (Anne Frank) and performing works by George Balanchine, John Cranko, Matthew Bourne, and Andre Prokovsky.
In 2009, Kevin graduated with honors from Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance. He was awarded full-tuition talent and academic scholarships, which were renewed every year. In addition to ballet, jazz, and modern dance, Kevin studied pedagogy and choreography. He performed works choreographed by the Butler faculty and was chosen by visiting choreographers James Kudelka and Stephen Mills to perform in pieces they created on the students. In his senior year, he performed the lead in Butler’s The Nutcracker.
Summers during his college years were spent studying art history in England; dancing at Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, where he worked with Alejandro Cerrudo; and dancing at ConfiDance, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where he worked with Maurice Causey.
Before college, Kevin trained with the Atlanta Ballet. For eight years, he performed in The Nutcracker at Atlanta Ballet, directed by John McFall. He also performed in Atlanta Ballet’s Peter Pan, Cinderella, Romeo and Juliet, and Madame Butterfly, thus having the opportunity to work with the director, the professional dancers, and visiting choreographers like Michael Pink and Stanton Welch.
